REPORT: Chelsea board want World-cup winner as Kepa replacement

Frank Lampard seems unconvinced of the 25-year-old’s capabilities and even dropped him mid way through the season. While reinstated once again as the Blues number one in place of veteran Willy Caballero, Kepa’s topsy turvy run continues for the West London outfit.

However, In 28 Premier League matches so far, he has only managed to keep six clean, conceding 37 goals. In the eyes of many, that is simply not good enough with his price tag.

Now the EXPRESS, claim that the Blues management is considering sending him on loan, as there are not many suitors to pay his transfer fee. The Spanish international still has five years left on his current contract and earns £150k-a-week.

Clubs back in his native in Sevilla are touted as a potential destination for him, while Valencia also providing an option. But the problem the deal possess, is the player’s huge salary with the clubs currently having financial troubles.

Chelsea have already been linked with a number of custodians for their goal, such as Pau Lopez, Fraser Foster, Andre Onana. Le10 Sport have added another name to the list in Alphonse Areola. The French world cup winner is currently on loan at Real Madrid, but has little hope of getting regular game time, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also not interested in having him back.

In such circumstances a move to Stamford Bridge could well be a possibility for the lanky shotstopper. Newcastle are also said to be interested in the PSG academy graduate and is expected provide competition to their Premier League rivals.

The young goalkeeper still has three years left on his current contract, but his parent club’s desire to cashing in on him, might well provide a boost for the Premier League duo.
