According to SportBild’s Christian Falk, Chelsea have contacted the representatives of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner about a potential summer transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also interested in the striker and have also reportedly contacted the representatives of the striker.
League leaders Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for the striker but the Reds have not yet decided whether they’ll go for Werner this summer.
Chelsea are hoping to capitalise on Liverpool’s indecision and seal a move for Werner.
Werner has a release clause of €60 million in his current contract at Leipzig that runs until 2023.
Werner has scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 36 games across all competitions this season, including 21 goals and 7 assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances.
