Chelsea will turn attention to strengthening the defence following the completion of a deal for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz.
According to Football Insider via The Sun, Chelsea could make a move for Manchester City defender John Stones this summer.
The report claims Stones’ name has been thrown into consideration by the Chelsea recruitment team after some secret talks and the England international is on the club’s list of defensive targets.
The 26 year old has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City and has two years left on his Manchester City contract.
Chelsea are hopeful Stones can rediscover his best form to shore up a defence that has conceded 54 goals in the Premier League this season – more than any other side in the top half.
Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in signing the Manchester City defender.
