Report: Chelsea enter the battle to sign 23-goals Canadian forward

The Blues have reportedly joined the battle to sign Gent playmaker Jonathan David. The 20-year-old attacker has had a great campaign with Belgian giants, amassing 23 goals and ten assists in 38 games across all tournaments so far.

He is a regular member of the national team squad which is already a big achievement for the playmaker.

Jonathan, who is rated at £20m. This report also claims that Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Leicester City are interested in signing him as well. David has also been linked to Arsenal with the Sun claiming that the Gunners are interested in him as well.

The 20-year-old attacker has been in fine form this campaign so far, and it won’t be much of a surprise if other teams are interested in signing him this summer. Canada international has played in a variety of attacking positions this campaign, but his predominant one has been that of an attacking midfielder.

Blues have a few footballers who are capable of playing in that position, and it would be tough for him to be a regular for them.

However, the Canadian playmaker is also capable of playing as a centre-forward so Chelsea might add him as a backup option for Tammy Abraham as well, especially if either of Michy Batshuayi or Olivier Giroud leave.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are heavily linked with Napoli centre-forward Dries Mertens, Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho, Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish, Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake and Porto left-back Alex Telles.
