REPORT: Chelsea identify £54m-rated centre-back as potential successor to Thiago Silva
Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva has impressed for the Blues since joining during the summer as a free agent.
Thiago has been instrumental in transforming Chelsea’s defence, with Frank Lampard’s side having kept clean sheets in six of the 10 games the 36-year-old has played.
The former Paris Saint-Germain defender is already 34 and the Blues understand a successor must be found for Silva.
According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have identified Cagliari centre-back Sebastian Walukiewicz as a potential successor to Thiago Silva.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Inter Milan are also reportedly in the race for the 20-year-old, who recently signed a new deal tying him to Cagliari until 2024.
Walukiewicz is reportedly valued at around £54million by Cagliari.
