Chelsea have been given a boost in our chances of signing Federico Chiesa after Fiorentina chief Joe Barone admitted that they wouldn’t stop the forward from leaving.
The Blues have identified Chiesa as a replacement for Willian, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after failure to reach an agreement over a new deal.
While Barone insisted they won’t want to see 22 year old Chiesa leave Fiorentina, they also won’t force him to stay.
“At the moment, unfortunately, everything is blocked, so we can only see and talk when everything is over,” he told Calciomercato when asked about Chiesa’s future.
“Everyone is free to make their own choices. We don’t force anyone to stay, we want players happy to be in Florence, to grow in Florence and to try to achieve important goals with Fiorentina.”
