Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen suffered a nose injury in the defeat against Manchester United on Monday, and lasted only the first-half as he had to leave the pitch with a bleeding nose.
According to reports, Christensen has flown to Milan to have a face mask fitted ahead of Chelsea’s crunch clash with Tottenham on Saturday.
According to The Athletic, Christensen travelled to Italy on Wednesday to see a specialist regarding the injury he suffered on Monday, and the temporal solution is for the 23-year-old to wear a special mask fitted that will allow him to play against Spurs.
Christensen reportedly trained with the mask on Thursday, but reports aren’t clear how long he will wear the mask.
Christensen will now join a long list of Chelsea players that have worn a protective mask – Petr Cech, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Dane will continue to wear the mask until he is fully healed.
