Report: Former Chelsea player announced as club captain following Chelsea exit
Former Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel joined PSV on a permanent deal this summer, after eight years of being a Chelsea player.
The 28-year-old has never had luck with injuries which has marred the growth he should have made at this stage of his career.
Interestingly, reports claim that Van Ginkel will be the one to captain PSV next season.
Van Ginkel has had loan spells at AC Milan and Stoke City before his loan move to PSV in 2016. It’s at PSV where Ginkel made the most impact, and they haven’t forgotten him.
Van Ginkel captained PSV to the Eredivisie title in the 2017/18 campaign, and he played a key role for them in that campaign.
His celebrations would however be short-lived as he endured major knee surgery that kept him out the next two seasons.
Upon his return to PSV, Van Ginkel has now been made captain.
