REPORT: Lampard set to replace three Chelsea players that played badly against Liverpool with new signings

A brace from Sadio Mane secured a 2-0 win for the reigning champions at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after Andreas Christensen received a red card after a foul on Mane.

Both of Mane’s goals came in the second half and each from an individual error from a Chelsea player.

Marcos Alonso was blamed for Liverpool’s opener while Kepa Arrizabalaga has been blamed for his role in Liverpool’s second goal.

According to former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will replace Christensen, Kepa and Alonso after their mistakes against Liverpool.

Chelsea are close to signing goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and have already brought in centre-back Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell.

Redknapp said on Sky Sports: “If you looked at the players who made the mistakes, Christensen, Alonso. That’s why they’ve bought in Chilwell.

“He does this too often. As a left-back, as soon as that ball gets played inside, I have got to follow the man. “As soon as you turn your body like that, you’re in trouble. “He turns his body, he gets himself in the completely wrong position, and it’s a brilliant piece of play.

“The keeper’s made a mistake, that’s unfortunate, the way the modern game is now you want your keepers playing out from the back.

“We’ve seen David de Gea make mistakes doing it and a lot more keepers will make mistakes. “That’s why they want to get in a new goalkeeper, that’s why they’re getting in a new left-back and obviously that’s why Silva will play.

“I think the three players that made the big mistakes today are the players that won’t be playing when Frank has his best XI.”
