REPORT: Title winning manager (who was contacted by Chelsea In 2017) set to take over Lampard’s job
According to BILD, Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel is interested in taking over from Frank Lampard were the Chelsea manager to be sacked this season.
The German tabloid reports that the 47-year-old has agreed a severance package with PSG meaning he is free to join another team this campaign if an approach was made.
It is believed that Tuchel was contacted by the Blues when he left Borussia Dortmund in 2017. At the time, Antonio Conte had just won the league title but there was tension between the Italian and the club’s board.
Since then, the German has gone on to win two Ligue One titles with PSG, as well as the French Cup and League Cup. However, he was dismissed from his position at the French champions just before Christmas, leading to speculation about his next job.
BILD claim that Tuchel would be keen on working with fellow countryman Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger, although Chelsea are fully behind Lampard at the moment despite some poor results recently.
