Chelsea return to action yesterday as the Blues beat Aston Villa 2-1 at the Villa’s park
However it wasn’t an easy one for Chelsea as the Blues had to come from behind to beat Villa. Goals from Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud ensured Chelsea got the three points.
Liverpool hero Steve Nicol has now warned Chelsea boss Frank Lampard about the team’s defence. According to Nicol, Chelsea’s defence is the biggest the team has.
“Chelsea’s biggest problem is not going forward, it’s defensively,” he told ESPN FC.
“They are going to create chances and put teams under pressure all day long, every time they step onto the field, regardless of the opposition.
“But I tell you what, they give me a heart attack at the back. They go a goal down and there was three Aston Villa players who could have put the ball in the net.
“Then they go ahead but then the mistakes… Rudiger is so lucky when he tries to play a back-pass and completely misses it. “Villa could have equalised later on when Christensen makes a mess of a simple clearance. “They will create chances, no question, but they have to do something defensively.”
