REVEALED: How Chelsea worked hard to break a Leeds record, and Kante was the mastermind
Leeds United may not be in the top half of the table, but they are one of the most difficult sides to beat in the league.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are known to press hard and fast, and the former Athletic Bilbao boss has brought that same philosophy to Leeds United.
Chelsea became the first team to outrun Leeds United this season as the Blues defeated Leeds 3-1. Chelsea really worked hard for the victory as the Blues ran 6 kilometres more than their opponents on the night – 11 kilometres more than their average running distance.
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante was one of the hardest workers on the pitch, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard sang his praises after the game.
Lampard said of Kante: “When you ask him to do anything on the football pitch in the midfield sense, when you tell him there is going to be a test put in front of him, he quietly just goes about it in the most incredible way.
“Leeds’ midfield was so mobile that the test was always going to be there. Our midfield dealt with it brilliantly and N’Golo was a big part of that.”
