Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.
According to Daily Star, Coutinho’s arrival at Chelsea will benefit Chelsea left-backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
“The manager would likely stick to playing with three attacking players in a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation with the midfielder playing further forward, possibly on the left,” explains Daily Star.
“Coutinho loves to roam infield often in a bid to try and use his wand of a right foot to get shots away or play in other teammates.
“And this would likely give Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso, or whoever was playing at left-back, the licence to get forward more often.
“All of these are questions that could be raised about how signing Coutinho would benefit Lampard and Chelsea going forward.”
