Timo Werner scored on his Chelsea debut as the Blues drew 1-1 against Brighton in a friendly at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Werner bagged his first Blues goal just four minutes into the game but his goal wasn’t enough to hand Chelsea a victory as Brighton scored a late penalty.

A brilliant pass from Hakim Ziyech found Callum Hudson-Odoi in the box who headed it into the path of Werner. The 24-year-old goal machine needed no second introduction before burying his chance confidently in the bottom corner.

Werner revealed after the game that he hopes the goal against Brighton is the first of many in a Chelsea shirt.

He posted on Instagram: “Good start, first of hopefully many goals.”
