Everything still seems very up in the air in terms of various European football leagues and whether they will actually finish their seasons.
However, The Premier League have their plans to get it finished behind closed doors, but ultimately any final decisions will have to come from the Government as they still assess just how bad this virus has got, and whether the decline will make it safe enough to continue playing football matches.
It still looks near impossible to me, and the league may well have to follow the example of the French Ligue 1 and end the season immediately, rewarding clubs’ league positions based on a points-per-game system.
As reported by The Brighton Independent, here is how the English league would look if it was cancelled right now as it stands.
Liverpool would be crowned the Premier League champions.
The next three would be Manchester City, Leicester City and Chelsea all gaining Champions league spots.
The remaining table would look like this..
5. Manchester United
6. Sheffield United
7. Wolves
8. Arsenal
9. Tottenham
10. Burnley
11. Crystal Palace
12. Everton
13. Newcastle
14. Southampton
15. Brighton
16. West Ham
17. Watford
18. Bournemouth
19. Aston Villa
20. Norwich
This would see Bournemouth, Villa, and Norwich relegated.
