Kai Havertz is a phenomenal talent, there is no doubt about that. However, The 20-year-old is the first player in the history of Bundesliga to reach 35 goals before turning 21.
Having already announced Hakim Ziyech’s transfer and reportedly reached an agreement with Timo Werner, the Leverkusen star recruitment would make an unbelievable summer transfer window for the Blues.
But it also would have an impact on a certain Chelsea player who arguably has a similar role to Havertz. Mason Mount has played in every one of the 29 Premier League games Chelsea have played this season, illustrating how important he has been for Frank Lampard this season.
Like Mount, one of his prominent qualities is his versatility.
The England international has played as a centre midfielder, as a number 10, and even a winger throughout the season. And just like Havertz, Mount also possesses great goal-scoring instinct, having scored six goals already this season.
While Havertz’s 11 Bundesliga appears far superior, it must be taken into account that he scored most of his goals (seven in all competitions) when playing as a centre forward (according to Whoscored).
Should Chelsea scrap their interest in Havertz because of Mount? Of course not, he is way too good to miss out on if Chelsea have the chance and the budget for.
Although some people might disagree, Mount who is just 21 years old also has tremendous potential, and Havertz’s signing, as dream-like as it may be, unfortunately, would halt the Chelsea boy’s development.
