REVEALED: Why Petr Cech clashed with Todd Boehly over Chelsea player decision as he steps down
The former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech disagreed with co-owner Todd Boehly about Romelu Lukaku’s future.
After purchasing Lukaku from Inter Milan for a nearly unheard-of sum a year ago, the Blues have chosen to lend him to Inter Milan.
Since his contract was set to expire at the end of the month, Cech has resigned from his position as Technical and Performance Advisor.
After Boehly succeeded Roman Abramovich as owner of the club, the former Chelsea goalkeeper believed he had little influence over the organization.
The Telegraph reports that Cech believed the team should have continued to support Lukaku after spending so much money on the Belgian forward.
Boehly, though, intends to take a different path and leave his mark on the squad by making high-profile acquisitions this summer.
