Revealed: Why Roman Abramovich has been ‘barred’ from living in Britain (£125million mansion)
The Blues owner Roman Abramovich hasn’t been in good terms with the UK government since 2018, which has seen him unable to watch his team live in action at Stamford Bridge.
However, according to latest reports, Roman Abramovich has been barred from living in the United Kingdom.
This followed a revelation by Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, that he’s one of the 35 oligarchs who are enablers of President Vladimir Putin.
MPs have urged the government to impose sanctions on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and former Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov over their links to Vladimir Putin amidst the tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
According to reports, immigration officials are “under clear instruction to work towards ensuring Mr Abramovich cannot base himself in the UK” despite owning a £125million mansion near Kensington Palace.
Meanwhile, The DailyMail report that Abramovich had denied he is close to the Kremlin or has done anything that would merit sanctions being imposed against him.
Having secured Israeli citizenship in 2018, allowing him to enter Britain for up to six months, Abramovich utilised his Israeli passport last October to make a short trip to London.
The Sun, quoting a senior source, reported that any attempt by the Chelsea owner to apply for a permanent visa would “almost certainly be rejected”.
