Revealed: Why Todd Boehly has been ‘calling’ Chelsea’s rivals ahead Of 2022/23 season

Todd Boehly, the new Chelsea co-owner, reportedly made contact with other Premier League clubs before the start of the current season.

At the end of May, the American entrepreneur and Clearlake Capital successfully completed the purchase of the club, paying around £4.25 billion for the Blues.

With Chelsea eager to launch a Premier League title push against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, Boehly is now prepared to participate in his first transfer window at the west London club.

He’s only been at the club for a short while, but it already seems like he’s getting ready for the upcoming season.

The Athletic claims that Boehly has recently been calling staff members from other Premier League teams to introduce himself and give him the opportunity to discuss future transfer business.

In order to give the Blues the best chance of challenging for the title next season, Chelsea’s new co-owner has already warned the other teams in the English top division that he is “plotting a summer spending spree.”

Up to six new additions are rumored to have been offered to manager Thomas Tuchel, with a focus on bolstering the team’s attack and defense.

At the club’s highest levels, Boehly has already been appointed Chairman in place of Bruce Buck, who will step down at the end of the month.

After working for the club for 12 years as director, Marina Granovskaia has resigned.

These developments suggest that Chelsea may be trying to add additional directors to the board. They are rumored to be interested in hiring departing Liverpool executive Michael Edwards as their new sporting director, but Manchester United is putting up a fight.

Comparatively speaking to other Premier League clubs, Chelsea’s transfer business has gotten off to a slow start, but as they start making plans for the upcoming season, some of their targets have been identified.

With only one year remaining on his Manchester City contract, Raheem Sterling, 27, may decide to leave the team.

Tuchel reportedly had fruitful discussions with the winger over a prospective transfer, and a £60 million transfer fee might be involved.

In a reported swap deal for the 22-year-old center back from Juventus, Matthijs de Ligt, Chelsea may use Timo Werner, according to reports.
