Roman Abramovich makes another big transfer claim
Chelsea spent about £200 million in bringing new players to the Stamford Bridge but that is just the beginning, according to claims as he is set to spend more in subsequent transfer window.
This was revealed by popular transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano while speaking on The Blue View Podcast. He stated that the Chelsea owner is set for another spending spree as soon as things return to normal.
“Roman Abramovich wants to spend, he wants to win.” he said on the show
He added that “If we will be back in a normal situation, I’m convinced yes Chelsea will spend big again, not like this summer but they will spend big again” While Roman Abramovich is fully backing Frank Lampard for the job at Chelsea, he is also desperate to start winning the Champions league as well as the Premier League.
In the last summer transfer window, we saw the Blues team bring in some top-class players in the form of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, Ben Chilwell, and Thiago Silva, spending about £200 million.
The West London club started the season slowly but there was a turnaround with the injection of the new players in the team, especially the goalkeeper from French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.
Roman Abramovich was reported to have concluded not to sign an attacker or a midfielder in the next few transfer windows to be able to protect the crop of players in that position. The defence is believed to be his major attention but that cannot be concluded until the time is right.
Chelsea have now gone 11 games unbeaten across all competitions and they are third on the Premier League table. The next couple of games will also be a true test to their will to win the title.
