Roman Abramovich ready to back Tuchel with €75m deal after Club World Cup victory
In just over one year as Chelsea boss, Tuchel has won three major trophies – the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, according to latest reports, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be backed in the summer transfer window following the club’s success in the FIFA Club World Cup and the club’s failure to make any signings for the first-team during the January transfer window.
Now, according to Italian media outlet calciomercato, Chelsea are well positioned in the race for Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt.
The Dutch international looks like he could be on his way out of Juventus next summer and Chelsea are ready to make a move for the 22 year old.
De Ligt’s release clause is around €125 million and that could put Chelsea off but Juventus are reportedly ready to lower their demands for the defender.
The report continues that €75 million could be enough to convince Juventus into selling their defender.
With the contracts of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen expiring at the end of the season, signing a defender during the summer transfer window is a priority for Chelsea.
