According to SportBuzz, Roman Abramovich has taken matters into his own hands and personally phoned Bayer’s Kai Havertz to persuade him to join Chelsea.
Chelsea are trying to fend off interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid and are apparently the only ones to have started negotiations with Bayer over a potential move.
Havertz has excelled in Bundesliga this season despite turning 21 only recently: he has contributed to 16 goals (11 goals, 5 assists) in 27 games and 5 in 4 after the restart, getting Player of the Month award in May.
The report goes on to claim that Abramovich is ready to pay the £90m fee for the German and raise the money by selling N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
However, it also adds that Havertz is favouring a move to La Liga over England.
