Roman out of the way! as UK government and Chelsea set to agree on latest sale
We have seen all sorts being written about our club in the last few days especially after it was announced that Roman Abramovich had been sanctioned.
However, when you really look at the bigger picture and dive deep into the substance from these reports, things are never as bleak as they appear.
Take an article last night from The Daily Mail for example. It is titled:
‘Chelsea are gripped by fear of going BUST: Club officials are battling to avoid administration and a nine-point penalty with wage bill of £28m due on April 1, as the fallout from Roman Abramovich’s sanctions continues.’
It then goes on to speak about how players have been asking how they stand legally if they do not get paid, and a lot of other talk about administration.
However, when you actually read the article, it is positive. They actually claim that both the Government and Chelsea are focused on getting a quick sale, and Roman Abramovich is not standing in the way of it. The sale of course, would put to bed any administration talk.
In a quote from a Government source in the same article provides even more clarity and positivity:
A spokesperson for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: ‘We have said all along that we would engage with Chelsea to understand what is needed to allow games to be played to minimise the impact on leagues, football pyramid and fans.
‘Following extensive engagement with the club on the details of their structures, we have made some operational amendments to the licence to do so. We are open to a sale of the club and would consider an application for a licence to allow that to happen.’
There you go, it will all be OK.
