Silva opens up and announce big summer signing ‘is ready’ for Chelsea

Kalidou Koulibaly has said he is “ready” for the Premier League, according to Thiago Silva, who also disclosed that the Chelsea back line speaks in several languages while playing.

After years of trying to convince the behemoth to move to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea was finally able to recruit Koulibaly earlier in the transfer window after agreeing to pay Napoli £40 million.

Even though he has already played in a few preseason games, many think he is still a few weeks away from being fit and able to compete with the greatest players the English game has to offer.

However, Silva has disclosed that the Chelsea defense speaks in several languages while playing, and the 37-year-old was all gushing about his new teammate once Kalidou Koulibaly was introduced.

He said: “It was good. He is a player with a lot of experience.

“He played in Italian football, which for me is the best defensive schooling you can possibly receive.

“He is ready for our ideas. He played 70 minutes, and on Saturday he will be ready to play 90.

“Normally we speak in French, because Edou does too, and Azpi, it worked well.

“The communication is not a problem, we can speak many different languages together.”

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel recently insisted he was “happy” with new boy Koulibaly in Chelsea’s 3-1 friendly win over Udinese – he said of centre-back Koulibaly: “He is a very, very good signing. A strong personality, a strong player.

“I am happy that he could play 70 minutes now. He’s getting fitter and fitter which is very important for us for the start of the season.”
