Fresh reports have again claimed Chelsea have opened talks to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer transfer window.
The football world has been stopped over the past few months because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, but that has not stopped constant speculation in the media about possible signings that could be arriving to the club, and players that could be leaving.
Cesare Azpilicueta is still in talks about a new contract at the club, while there is speculation the likes of Willian and Pedro are all set to depart the club at the end of the season as they have not been handed new contracts at Stamford Bridge.
But reports in the media over the past few days have claimed that Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to the Chelsea ahead of the summer window, as the Spanish giants are keen to get rid of the Brazilian, who has not made the impact that many had hoped when he signed from Liverpool. Bayern have an option to make Coutinho’s stay at the Allianz Arena permanent but are supposedly unwilling to match Barca’s initial €100million (£89m) valuation of the midfielder.
And Mundo Deportivo now report that Chelsea are looking to swoop in and sign up the former Liverpool ace, beating London rivals Arsenal to his signature in the process.
It is claimed the Blues have contacted Barcelona over a potential move while they have also reached out to Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian, with reports Coutinho himself is supposedly keen on a return to the Premier League and would give ‘preference’ to Chelsea over the other clubs who have expressed an interest.
Chelsea have been constantly linked with a move for Coutinho during the summer window and many people simply do not know where he will end up. But if the reports are true and talks have been opened over a possible deal, then he could be a great signing.
There is a long way between now and the transfer window, so any possible deal will not be wrapped up anytime soon if Chelsea do manage to tempt him back to the Premier League.
