“Sorry it’s over between him and Chelsea” – Fabrizio Romano confirms £35million Chelsea star will leave club this summer
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will look to sell Ian Maatsen in the summer despite his impressive performances on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Maatsen joined Borussia Dortmund on loam in January after failing to secure regular playing time under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.
“The feeling is the situation between Chelsea and Ian Maatsen is over, especially with Pochettino as the manager,” Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Maatsen extended his Chelsea contract before leaving the club on loan in January. His new deal with Chelsea includes a ₤35m release clause which could be activated this summer.
Borussia Dortmund would love to keep the 21 year old left-back but can’t afford to pay the £35million required to sign him.
