It hasn’t been a good start to life for new Chelsea signing Kai Havertz, as the 21-year-old has failed to impress in the two games he has played so far for the club.
The spotlight has been on Kai Havertz, mostly because of his huge transfer fee, after the Blues paid an initial £62m for his signature, with add-ons that could take the deal beyond £80m.
Chelsea are still without injured stars Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, and it’s believed that the Blues will be a much better side when they return to the squad.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley, claims that Kai Havertz place in the team could be at stake when Pulisic and Ziyech return to the squad.
“I’m sure the lad is testing his fitness and finding his feet and surroundings,” the former Scotland international told ESPN FC.
“But he found himself on the field in a more central role with [Timo] Werner at times playing off the left and Mason Mount on the right, but again he was underwhelming.
“Not questioning his talent, but for the first two games he’s certainly a player that when Pulisic and Ziyech are fit, he’s going to be the one coming under threat because of his first two performances.”
