Strongest Predicted Predicted Chelsea Line-up to face West Ham United, Mount and James to start (4-2-3-1)

The Blues have the opportunity to return to winning ways when they entertain London rivals West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have gone winless for two games on the bounce since international break and in both of those matches, they have not been entirely convincing on the defensive point of view. Still, they will be genuine favourites against the Hammers, who are winless for eight games in all competitions and recently suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Kepa Arrizabalaga has looked anxious with the gloves in recent games where he has gifted clear-cut chances. Fortunately, those mistakes have not cost the team greatly. He is expected to start in goal.

In the defence, Frank Lampard may consider the solitary change with Andreas Christensen dropping to the bench for the return of Fikayo Tomori, who has been by far the Blues’ best performing centre-back. In the centre of the park, Mateo Kovacic may probably drop to the bench despite contributing a goal and an assist against Valencia and Manchester City respectively.

The Croatian looked certainly jaded during the European clash and he could be afforded a rest from the starting XI with a midweek league game soon to follow.

In this case, Jorginho will definitely partner N’Golo Kante at the heart of the midfield but the former needs to step up after a couple of frustrating displays after the international break.

Further forward, Christian Pulisic and Willian are certain contenders to start on the left and right wing respectively but they are likely to be accompanied by Mason Mount in the number 10 role.

Upfront, Tammy Abraham is definitely out with a hip concern. Michy Batshuayi is expected to lead the line ahead of Olivier Giroud, who has barely featured under Lampard in recent months.
