‘That is clear about the journey’ – Tuchel confirms he wants world cup winner signed up by Chelsea
According to latest reports, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he would like Chelsea to hand Ngolo Kante a new contract, amid speculation that PSG are lining up a summer move
Kante is one of the best holding midfielders in the game and a player that everyone at the club can rely on – especially in those big games when the back-line needs to be protected more
But he is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and there has been some rumours in the media that PSG will be ready to swoop in and offer him a move back to his homeland, a place that he has a desire to play again in the future
However, Tuchel wants to avoid a similar situation to that of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger who are looking increasingly more likely to leave at the end of this season for nothing, and wants the club to hand Kante a new deal when they can
He said: ‘Nobody wants that [contracts running out], absolutely. With important players, it’s a wish as a coach that we solve this in the summer any way.
‘That it’s clear where the journey is, what the decision is. Otherwise, we have the same talks about Antonio and Andreas, we just swap the names, we talk about it through winter.
‘Then comes January, the agents talk with clubs and the brother to the other — it would be nice if we can avoid it. But at the moment, it’s a bit difficult. Yes, this should be the target for all of us.’
