The Premier League has seen a number of historic captains since the beginning of the competition, but former Chelsea star Joe Cole has named former Blues skipper John Terry as the best the Premier League has ever seen.
Cole played for West Ham, Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League, as well as the England national team, but it was Terry who struck him as the best ever captain.
Asked to name the favourite captain he played under, Cole simply responded: “John Terry.”
“His attention to detail off the pitch, he led from the front and he demanded high standards. He was just the perfect captain to have at the club.”
Pressed on whether Terry is the greatest captain in Premier League history, Cole added to BT Sport: “Yes, I would say that.
“I think there’s probably an argument for a few others but JT is certainly right up there.”
