Thierry Henry hails trouble Chelsea player after UCL win, as Blues submit first offer to sign defender
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has heaped huge praise on Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante after an excellent season for Chelsea.
Kante played a starring role for the Blues as we won the Champions League, putting in man of the match displays in both legs of the semi-final win over Real Madrid and in the final victory against Manchester City.
“Listen, you notice certain guys because they score and grab the headlines,” Henry told Vibe With Five.
“But I rarely see a player who arrives before the ball. Like, he already knows the ball is going to land there. Sometimes he arrives before the ball and I’m like, ‘how does he do that?!’
“He reads the game to be able to intercept the ball without fouling or tackling most of the time. He arrives at the same time as the ball, sometimes earlier.
“The amount of times he turns a counter-attack for his opponent to a counter-attack for his team… You are building and suddenly he gets the ball and you’re in trouble. So many times!
“So many times you see him getting the ball back and soon after it’s a goal for Chelsea. The capacity he has to read the game and see where the ball is going, sometimes he gets there before the ball!
“It’s not guessing. When they say a striker smells the goal, it’s the same with Kante. He knows exactly where the ball is going and he can read the pass and the pattern of play.”
Chelsea have submitted an offer in the region of €60 million (£51.5m) to sign Inter defender Achraf Hakimi, according to reports in Italy.
Thomas Tuchel is a man that knows he needs to keep improving the side in the transfer window as he will need to add a bit more quality to the squad.
That has led to reports in the media that Chelsea are very interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for Hakimi, who is now regarded as one of the very best defenders in Seria A.
Hakimi helped Inter win the Seria A title this season, but the Italians are in debt and they must sell a number of players in the transfer window in order to balance the books, and Hakimi is a man that they will allow to leave
Now, According to Sky Sport Italia, both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have tabled offers of €60m (£51.5m) but the Serie A champions are holding out for a fee closer to €80m (£68.7m) for the Morocco international.
The report also claims that Chelsea have the edge over PSG as they can include two players – Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen – as part of their offer for Hakimi.
