“This is the ‘only answer am getting’ on Harry Maguire move to Chelsea” – Fabrizio Romano finally reveals
The apparent interest of Chelsea in acquiring Manchester United defender Harry Maguire caused a lot of commotion over the weekend.
After just one game, a single rumor sent Chelsea supporters into a frenzy. The majority of them were upset over the reports linking Maguire to the club.
Since then, other stories have surfaced that claim Chelsea may be interested in Maguire. Fabrizio Romano reaffirmed this this morning on his Substack that Wesley Fofana is still the priority over any other new center back, which is one thing that has been evident from every Maguire report.
Romano questioned Chelsea over the weekend regarding the Maguire connections and any potential new center backs, and he responds:
“I’ve been asked a lot about Harry Maguire and those links with Chelsea. My understanding is that, at the moment, Chelsea’s priority is Wesley Fofana. This is the only answer I’m getting from Chelsea during the weekend too, when asking about a new centre-back.”
So I think it’s pretty safe to assume that there isn’t really much in this. Perhaps Maguire was just one of many, many names mentioned at Chelsea this summer when deciding which targets to pursue, which is very natural in a transfer window.
