‘This is the spirit, I will never do this! as Tuchel vows not to follow Klopp’s latest decision
Chelsea are aiming to win a first Premier League title since 2017, and the Blues have two domestic cups to fight for, as well as defend their Champions League title and aim for the Club World Cup.
However, Chelsea’s trip to the UAE in February will come at a time when the Blues will have fixture congestion, as Chelsea’s Club World Cup game has been billed at a time when fixtures will be thick.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has vowed not to follow the steps of Jurgen Klopp, as Liverpool opted to field an U23s team when they had a similar issue back in 2019.
Tuchel has however vowed to be competitive and not follow the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp.
Tuchel said: “I think they [Liverpool] did because they played one day later in Qatar.”
“I think they would not have sacrificed it if they had three or four days in between, they would have tried to find solutions.
“But no, we will never do this because if we think we need to rest players or give players a chance to play, like it’s a tradition in the Carabao Cup, then we will do it but we will always prepare to win the match.
“This is the spirit we have to keep going.
“It is a struggle, of course it is a struggle and it feels very demanding, I can assure you of that. For everybody, the staff and the players but we will push through and pursue it, there is no other option.
“We love to be in these competitions and we want to stay in them. We want to arrive in March, April or May in these competitions. So no, we don’t start judging games and the value for those games.”
