Three ‘strong reasons’ why Chelsea can beat Manchester United to Jadon Sancho transfer

Manchester United are reportedly leading the race for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but the 20 year old England international could still end up at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Athletic, there are a couple of reasons why the England international may prefer a switch to Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford. Firstly, the Red Devils are fifth in the Premier League table and are on course to miss out on Champions League football next season.

Chelsea are currently fourth and look likely to finish in the top four. Champions League football will play a huge role in Sancho’s transfer decision.

The second reason why Sancho could join Chelsea instead of Manchester United is because the 20 year old grew up in London and is an avid Chelsea supporter.

If terms offered by both clubs are similar then it is believed Sancho will choose Chelsea because he is a Chelsea supporter.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is one of Sancho’s three footballing idols so working under his idol could be an attractive option for Sancho. When asked about his heroes by the Independent last year, Sancho said: “Ronaldinho was the main guy I used to watch on YouTube.

“But I liked Frank Lampard quite a lot and Didier Drogba when they were playing for Chelsea. “They were the three players I looked up to.”
