Timo Werner joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski in latest list

Chelsea striker Timo Werner scored twice as Chelsea beat Rennes 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Werner’s brace against Rennes means he is just the fifth player across Europe’s top five leagues to have scored more than 40 goals since the start of last season.

Werner has now scored 41 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions and joins Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, Lazio goal machine Ciro Immobile, Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku to surpass the 40 goal mark.

Since making the £47.5m move from RB Leipzig to Stamford Bridge this summer, the 24-year-old has continued the impressive goalscoring form he showed in Germany, netting seven goals in 11 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea.
