‘To be absolutely fair we feel sorry for him’ — Tuchel send massive message to unhappy Chelsea player

According to latest reports, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was disappointed that he wasn’t allowed to go on loan to Borussia Dortmund before the end of the transfer window.

The 20-year-old winger was a late target for the Bundesliga club, but Thomas Tuchel apparently blocked a move for Hudson-Odoi to join the German side who also refused to sell Erling Haaland to Chelsea.

However, Hudson-Odoi doesn’t seem too pleased as he’s seen as a third choice in the right wing-back position, and is also behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech in the wide positions.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he doesn’t feel sorry for Hudson-Odoi and has rather told the young winger to work his way into the team.

“To be absolutely fair, I have to say that sometimes we use him as a right side wing-back which is not his very best position but we do it because, in the Super Cup match [against Villareal], he had a good pre-season and all the training in his legs so he had the capacity to play the 120 minutes,” Tuchel said.

“He waits for a chance in the half left position but he fights against Mason [Mount], Kai [Havertz], Hakim [Ziyech], Christian Pulisic, a lot of guys with a lot of quality.

“It is very hard for him. I agree but we don’t have to feel sorry for him. Once the door is open we demand he goes in between and makes his mark. This can happen at any time. He needs to be ready, this is what we demand from him.”
