Todd Boehly to sign first Chelsea contract, as 18-goal star with €1 billion release clause who loves Drogba sends transfer message to Chelsea
On Friday, Todd Boehly is anticipated to start the process of completing the contracts necessary to take ownership of Chelsea.
There had been fears that Roman Abramovich might demand the £1.6 billion loaned to the club be repaid, delaying the takeover, but the current Blues owner has subsequently come out to dispel those fears.
Abramovich maintains that he does not want a penny of the £2.5 billion that Boehly will initially hand up, but it is believed that his current sanctions prevent him from writing off the debt as planned, with the European Union as well as the UK further restricting his financial activities.
To combat this, the UK government will put the £1.6 billion on hold until the problems are resolved, allowing Boehly to complete his takeover without fear. The majority of the £1 million will be donated to charity – the details of which have yet to be announced – with the remaining expected to follow suit later.
According to The Telegraph, the contract signing procedure will begin on Friday after Abramovich submits an official request to the government to authorize the sale and change the rules of Chelsea’s license, which presently prohibits all transfer activity and contract negotiations.
While the limits cannot be completely released until the outstanding debt is resolved, there is growing optimism that the majority of Chelsea’s restrictions will be lifted soon, putting to rest any fears that the club will collapse or lose out on next season’s Premier League.
Background checks on Boehly and his consortium have already been completed by government officials, and there aren’t expected to be any roadblocks in the future.
18-goal star who loves Drogba sends transfer message to Chelsea
Ansu Fati has told Chelsea and other clubs that he has no desire to leave Barcelona after signing a contract with a €1 billion release clause.
Another product of the renowned La Masia academy system, he made his senior debut for Barcelona in August 2019 and is expected to go on to become one of the best strikers in the world.
Despite being plagued by injuries since bursting onto the scene at the Camp Nou, Fati has made 54 appearances for Barcelona and scored 18 goals in those appearances.
Any hopes Chelsea had of signing the talented young man in the coming transfer windows have been dashed after the talented young man sent a clear message to potential suitors.
When asked if he has ever considered taking on a new task, the gifted youth told SPORTbible, “No, honestly.” Barca has provided me with everything. That’s where I belong.
“My major goal at Barcelona is to win titles.” My primary goal is to do this for the team and the fans. If this means I’ll set personal records, that’s fantastic. I’ll work hard and remain committed. After that, hopefully, trophies and records will follow.”
Fati also admits to looking up to Lionel Messi, with Didier Drogba, a former Chelsea striker, as a source of inspiration. “When I was at La Masia, the first team was one of the strongest sides in our club’s history, so it made sense for us to use those players as a reference,” Fati said of following in illustrious footsteps.
“We watched and analyzed everything they did, especially the players on that side.”
“When I was little, I used to watch Didier Drogba a lot because he was fantastic.
“However, rather than focusing on a single player, I prefer to consider footballers as a whole and appreciate all of the great players we’ve seen throughout the years.” I constantly look to the finest for inspiration.”
