Tomorrow is a big chance! Tuchel confirms ‘big chance’ for 2 Chelsea stars ahead of Aston Villa clash
Ahead of Carabao clash against Aston Villa, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirms two Chelsea stars will get some minutes tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of the game, Tuchel said: “We gave him some minutes against Zenit and that was a close game, it was a Champions League opener for us. We gave him some minutes and that was not a gift, he deserved it,” Thomas Tuchel told a press conference about Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
“I trust him because I see how he works and he adapts to the situation and he accepts his situation and what he makes out of it, doing very good in training on a daily basis. So tomorrow there is a big chance that he can show it on the pitch.”
On Saul, the boss added: “Of course we want to give Saul some minutes.
“First of all the guys want to have minutes, to show and to impress and to keep on pushing and we need some players to have more competitive minutes.
“We want to have a competitive team and at the same time use the opportunity to push some guys and to trust them also in a competitive cup match like tomorrow, Saul is one of them.”
However, Saul had a debut to forget for Chelsea as he struggled in the first half of the game against Aston Villa, the same side he is likely to face tomorrow.
As for Loftus-Cheek, he’s yet to start a game for the Blues since returning from a difficult Fulham loan. Last season, he made 30 league appearances for the Cottagers but failed to help them stay in the Premier League.
