Chelsea’s centre back chase continues, and they have been linked to a host of potential options.
It was reported by The Telegraph back in July that Chelsea are seriously looking at Atletico Madrid centre back Jose Gimenez.
Although the Uruguay international wouldn’t be the cheapest option, he is certainly an option.
Chelsea may have just received a boost if they are to make a move on the 25-year old, with Gimenez himself talking highly about Frank Lampard and admitting that he ‘loves Chelsea’ and ‘wanted to play with Frank Lampard’ in a recent video surfaced online.
As reported by The Daily Star, Gimenez said: “I would have liked to play with Lampard. I always used to watch Chelsea as a kid, loved them.”
If Chelsea are serious with their interest in Gimenez, it might be worth sending super Frank Lampard over to Spain to have a little chat with him!
It would be a great acquisition for sure, but one that feels like it would be a move for next summer rather than this one, with the amount of money being spent by Chelsea elsewhere on other targets.
What’s that? Just José Gimenez talking about his admiration for one of his heroes #Lamps watching him on telly growing up in #Uruguay and how he would’ve liked to play with him at Chelsea pic.twitter.com/vN5e3ine0j
