Top Chelsea target learning English as a move to the Premier League

Liverpool and Chelsea have strongly been linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, and it seems that the 24-year-old is also preparing towards a move to the Premier League.

According to Bleacher Report, the Germany international has started taking English lessons during the lockdown, and is keen on leaving Leipzig in the summer.

Liverpool are heavy favourites to land Werner, but German news outlet Kicker has pointed out that Chelsea have ‘made direct contact’ with Werner’s camp over a potential move to Stamford Bridge during the summer.

Werner has an impressive record of 27 goals and 12 assists in 36 appearances, and has played a key role in guiding Leipzig to their first Champions League quarter-finals appearance as they beat Tottenham home and away in the round of 16 just before the lockdown.

Werner’s contract with RB Leipzig expires in 2023 and reportedly includes a £52 million release clause. Can Chelsea make a steal for the top striker?
