Top insider reveals why Chelsea must pay £40-50m for Dutch star as Blues close to secure deal
One of the best, if not the best, Chelsea insiders is Matt Law, and he has a ton of excellent insider contacts at the club.
Though today’s tweet only contains his own ideas, it does not include any sources.
Chelsea supporters have been debating Nathan Ake’s value in great detail as a result of the latest ties to the Manchester City defender. The £40m+ asking price has scared off many people.
However, as Law notes, Newcastle has just paid £35 million for a player who has never competed in the Premier League and has never represented Holland.
Ake has a ton of experience playing at the highest level and many Dutch caps.
Law argues that he ought to be far more valuable than Botman, and the Telegraph writer estimates his worth to be between £40 and £50 million.
His reasoning is sound, but it seems strange to say it in the middle of the day. Maybe he knows something about the potential trade that we don’t?
I'd like to know why if Chelsea spent £50m on Ben Chilwell they shouldn't spend similar on Nathan Ake? Would arrive with more pedigree. Newcastle paid 35 for Botman who has never played in PL and has never played a senior game for Holland. 40-50 seems the going rate for Ake to me
