Tottenham set to hijack Chelsea move for £35.2m-rated Ajax star

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ‘very interested’ in securing the services of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana ahead of Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s side could allegedly be in the market for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris who has struggled since making a return from injury.

Onana is believed to be keen on a move to the English top-tier ahead of the 2020-21 season, and according to Sport, the North London club are ‘very interested’ in securing the services of the Cameroon international.

The report suggests that Dutch giants Ajax would be looking for a figure in the region of €40m (£35.2m) for the talented goalkeeper, who has a deal in Amsterdam that runs in the summer of 2022.

Chelsea and Barcelona have also been credited with a strong interest in Onana, who has kept 15 clean sheets in 39 games at club level during the 2019-20 season.

Burnley’s keeper Nick Pope is also believed to be a potential transfer target for both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Frank Lampard is in the market for Kepa Arrizabalaga’s replacement as the Spaniard has lost his place in the starting XI recently as experienced keeper Willy Caballero has preferred ahead of him in the recent games.
