‘Tough matches! as Tuchel his reveals plans for Tottenham and Manchester City games
The Blues are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after the Blues defeated Chesterfield 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel used the opportunity to heavily rotate his squad, as rests were handed to players like Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger, Mason Mount, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. The likes of Mateo Kovacic, Romelu Lukaku and Andreas Christensen were given limited minutes so they can rest for the coming games ahead.
Chelsea have a double cracker against Tottenham and Manchester City this week, and Tuchel admitted that he rested his players for this purpose.
Tuchel said: “We have tough matches coming up,”
“It is a different level of intensity if you play Premier League teams or against a fifth division team. It was important to share the minutes and give some players rest to be in the best shape possible for the upcoming games.
“Let’s see. We have to constantly adapt because the situation can change any day with the testing, and from there we go.”
