Tuchel confirms Chelsea star is out Arsenal clash after positive Covid test
According to latest reports, Christian Pulisic has been sidelined for this weekend’s Arsenal clash with a positive test for COVID-19, confirmed the Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of the Emirates Stadium showdown.
The American winger had scored in Chelsea’s opening day win over Crystal Palace in a game where Tuchel’s men ran out convincing victors in a 3-0 scoreline against their fellow Londoners to get the new season off to a flying start.
In the build-up to Sunday’s game against Arsenal, however, the Blues have been handed a major setback on the squad selection front with the in-form Pulisic being ruled out after testing positive for coronavirus.
Tuchel confirmed that the former Dortmund frontman will not be in the fray to make the Chelsea teamsheet for the upcoming fixture as Pulisic will be entering the isolation period after his recording a positive test.
The Chelsea boss did sound out some much-needed respite on the injury front with N’Golo Kante and Hakim Ziyech both expected to feature come Sunday after the pairing made a return to team training, according to the German in his pre-match remarks.
With Christian, it’s unfortunately very easy to explain.’
‘He had a positive test and needs to follow the protocols so he won’t be available for the game.
‘Hakim and N’Golo were both in training today and they had no problems. We need to have a more intense session tomorrow with them and the team before we decide but right now it seems positive that both can be in the squad for Sunday.’
