Tuchel confirms two Chelsea players are out of Tottenham clash

According to reports, Mateo Kovacic won’t play in this weekend’s London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, This is according to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Last Saturday at Goodison Park, Kovacic was not utilized as a substitute against Everton. Tuchel has since stated that the midfielder is currently dealing with an injury.

Kovacic is being cautiously treated for a minor knee injury, according to Tuchel.

“Kova is injured, unfortunately, and has issues with his knee,” Tuchel said on Friday.

“We decided to take a step back and increase treatment time and reduce the stress that comes from training to have a normal reaction before we start again.”

Tuchel has also ruled out Marcos Alonso from the game, as he is trying to seal a move away to Spanish side Barcelona.

Tuchel added: “Marcos Alonso is not in training at the moment as he tries to finalise his transfer, so he won’t be in contention for Sunday.

“Everybody else is available.”
