Tuchel finally reveals when Lukaku will be back to the team
A lot has been said about the £97.5m signing, and the Blues boss made a bold decision to drop him for a vital clash against Liverpool.
However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel decided to drop striker Romelu Lukaku to the bench for the Premier League clash against Liverpool following his controversial interview with Sky Italia.
However, it seems Lukaku won’t be out for long, as Tuchel has said there will be a meeting between player and manager on Monday, after which a decision will be made to play him in the Carabao Cup semifinals against Tottenham on Wednesday.
Tuchel said after the game: “We need to evaluate the situation and not listen to the media and not listen to the pressure but understand what he said, which is why there is the meeting tomorrow.”
“From there we will take the decision. If the decision is he is good to go for Wednesday, this is the decision, but I cannot tell you right now because we need to talk and understand the situation better and then from there we go once the situation is clear.
“There is no doubt he will stay our player and we will also protect our player.”
Chelsea will definitely need the Belgian back in action ahead of difficult games against Tottenham and Manchester City.
