Tuchel has urged Boehly to complete Chelsea signing of £150M man in January
According to latest reports, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ‘really wanted’ to complete a deal for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice – it has been claimed
However, It is no secret that Thomas Tuchel has not got the players that he would have liked this summer – despite the fact the club have spent £250 million on players
Ngolo Kante is a player that Tuchel loves in his squad – but with his injury record over the past few seasons causing real issues for the German in midfield – Declan Rice is a player that the club wanted
Rice has been brilliant for West Ham over the past few seasons and is easily one of the very best players in the Premier League – but he didnt leave the Hammers as they simply wanted far too much money
The Hammers were demanding £150 million for their captain – a fee that Chelsea were not ready to pay this over the summer as they needed to improve other areas of the pitch first
However – Tuchel was eager to seal a deal in the transfer window and spoke to Ted Boehly and co. regarding the move – with reports claiming that he pretty much demanded that Rice be the signing that improved that midfield
Simon Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “I know for a fact that Thomas Tuchel really wanted Declan Rice.
“At the start of the window, he was talking to staff at Cobham about how much he wanted Rice and he was definitely a target that Tuchel put to the new owners as well.”
