Tuchel hints at possible summer departures

Thomas Tuchel has hinted that there may be departures at Stamford Bridge as he tries to deal with a bloated squad.

The futures of both Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech now both appear to be in doubt, with Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi all apparently ahead of them in the German’s preferred pecking order.

Meanwhile N’Golo Kanté, Ben Chilwell and Kurt Zouma have all struggled for game time since Tuchel’s appointment.

The sale of Ziyech would come as a particular surprise, given that he only arrived at the club last summer, having been signed from Ajax for £36 million. He was Frank Lampard’s first signing after the UEFA transfer ban was lifted, but it seems his style does not suit Tuchel’s preferred pattern of play.

Pulisic previously worked under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, and has scored 13 goals in 55 appearances since switching to Chelsea in 2019.
