Tuchel reportedly tells Chelsea board to sign new attacker January after latest decision
Recent report claimed that Chelsea boss and Germany international Thomas Tuchel has told the Blues to sign a new striker in the coming January transfer window.
Although Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku in a £97.5m deal from Inter Milan last summer to join Timo Werner at their frontline, the Belgian international has scored four times in 11 appearances for the capital outfit this season.
With Lukaku and Werner currently on the sidelines with injuries, transfer expert Ian McGarry in a recent report, revealed that the Blues manager is wary of relying too heavily on Lukaku for goals.
McGarry stressed that as a result of this, Tuchel has allegedly instructed the club’s board to sign a new attacker when the January transfer window commences.
“It is our information that Tuchel has requested from the club that they recruit a striker in the January window,” said McGarry on The Transfer Window Podcast.
He noted that there were no definite shortlist formulated yet, but it’s clear that Chelsea are heavily reliant on Lukaku in such a short space of time since he arrived back at the club for his second spell.
