Tuchel reveals ‘massive clash’ with Unai Emery in Super Cup final

Chelsea are Super Cup champions after beating Villarreal in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw at Belfast.

There was a clash between Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Villarreal boss Unai Emery, as TV cameras captured the two managers exchanging words in a heated argument as they headed down the tunnel at the half-time break.

Rudiger was deemed to have done a hard tackle on Villarreal’s Yeremi Pino and was issued a yellow card. Tuchel was booked as well after remonstrating with referee Sergey Karasev for what he felt was a harsh decision.

Tuchel and Emery were seen exchanging words on their way to the tunnel, and the Blues boss has explained that he has no issues with the Villarreal manager but was rather furious with one of his coaching staff.

“With him [Emery], there is no problem,” the Chelsea manager told BT Sport shortly after the game.

“It was somebody on his staff that was a bit too loud.

“But yeah okay, it’s like this. We thought it was an English tackle, they saw it as a foul.”
